wherein the sydney opera house goes totally trippy…

this is the sydney opera house as you’ve never seen it before, right? i could just stand there, watching the montage of swirling patterns transform and tumble over the roof tiles all night.

if, like me, you’re a sucker for bright colours and luminous lights, then do yourself a favour and check out sydney’s vivid festival. it’s a three week celebration of light, music and ideas and every night between 6-11pm the cbd buzzes with people enjoying the city’s (extra) electric skyline.

with free laser shows, water shows, fireworks, sparkling sculptures and general good time vibes, there’s never been a better time to see sydney light up.

oh wait.

the 2016 display ends tonight.

(that was a bit mean of me.)

maybe next year?

ok, cool, see you there! 😀

wherein matthew mcconaughey basically sums up the meaning of life…

“let me tell you something…the older you do get, the more rules they’re gonna try to get you to follow. you just gotta keep livin’ man, L-I-V-I-N'”

now let me tell you something…there ain’t no livin’ like island livin’.

it’s L-I-V-I-N inside a postcard of white sandy beaches and turquoise waters while a magic mix of warm sunshine dances on your skin and the balmy breeze that lullabies are made of tousles your hair.

welcome to the philippines. (you’ll feel laidback in the summertime, indeed.)

5 islands down, 7102 to go…

wherein cambodia sounds like #9 dream…

“took a walk down the street
through the heat whispered trees”

“dream, dream away
magic in the air, was magic in the air?”

“on a river of sound
through the mirror go round”

way to go, john lennon, for describing exactly how it feels like to amble through the chaotic streets of cambodia, in all their hot and noisy and spice-laden glory.

and thank you, jose gonzalez, for adding an extra layer of dreams with your ethereal vocals in the cover version that i used for my photo film. (featured in the divine ‘the secret life of walter mitty’, by the way.)

update 1

wherein ‘kaleidoscope of countries’ makes its debut…

they say that ‘the world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page’. you could say i am in the process of writing my own book, a choose-your-own-adventure story, if you will.

but please be patient.

there are many stories to tell and i’m learning how to be a more disciplined writer and less like an ent…

“it takes a long time to say anything in Old Entish. and we never say anything unless it is worth taking a long time to say.”

(yes, i am a lord of the rings fan.)

without further ado…
